If you've been watching Welcome to Wrexham the past few years, you've familiarized yourself with the frothing passion for football that exists in Wales, and you are probably aware of the increased tourism that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's ownership of Wrexham AFC has brought to the region.

Well, in even more sporting news from the area, images were just shared of a proposed 300-million-pound resort project that would bring indoor snowboarding to Wales, too. Something that the country's national snowsports governing body, Snowsport Cymru Wales, has been campaigning for, for more than a decade.

The resort facility, which would include a water park, hotel, and other attractions in addition to the indoor snowpark, is called Rhydycar West, and is located in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, about 90 minutes northwest of Bristol, England.

On the Rhydycar West website, it is explained that,

"Indoor snow sports are one of the anchor attractions at Rhydycar West. It will host the Welsh & UK training headquarters, creating a National Centre of Excellence for snow sports as well as offering world class recreational facilities."

The plans for the resort were first submitted to local government in March 2023. There's still a long way to go before Rhydycar West comes to fruition, but the possibilities are undoubtedly exciting.
