Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli admits he owes nearly 3m in gambling debts.
Fagioli has been banned from playing for seven months for betting illegally on games.
Il Messaggero has released some of the statements made by Fagioli to the Prosecutor's Office: "The worst period was between March and April 2023. In Sassuolo-Juve I made a mistake and I was replaced.
"When I left I cried because of the debts... in September 2022 they were 250 thousand, then they reached over 2.7 million.
I started with tennis and online casino, then with football, but never on Cremonese and Juventus matches, not even on fouls, cards, correct results or markers. Under and over. But at a certain point I could no longer withdraw the money from my bank account controlled by my mother and I started asking for the money from my friends who were unaware of everything.
"40 thousand euros to Gatti, who still demands them, and to Dragusin. I said that I needed them to buy Rolexes in a jewelery shop in Milan, which in reality I used to partially return the sums of money."
